Was it just me, or was anyone else following along word for word with the book?!!!! Thank you Dr Gretchen for putting your voice to your words! I know I'M WEIRD!!!
It took me 15 years to get diagnosed - I just turned 40. As much as it sucks, I’m glad yours got caught fairly early so you have that much more time to pre-empt it and kick it in the butt. You got this. ❤
I just wanted to share and doubt that it will be of any encouragement but my wife has progressive multiple sclerosis and it started at the age of 11.So don't give up or feel sad. This illness or disease, feeds on the negative. Its hard,I see my wife struggles everyday day ,breaks my heart but it's a must to stay positive
I love your information but I question the more effort thing I agree with you that effort and consistency are extremely important. However, I am truly looking for ease and I don’t know that I want to train my brain to think it needs to exert extreme effort every time I want it to move my body. I have a lot of spinal lesions and have lived with this for 21 plus years🤷♀️. 🙏
Hi Gretchen. I love your video. The current time is 11:08 a.m. I live in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada. I would love to have a phone appointment with you. I will look at your book for information. Thank you for your expertise and your gift of being able to share with so many!❤😊
Question. If I increase my exercise sessions to twice a day (instead of just once in the morning), will that speed up the physical therapy / recovery / help my muscles achieve their previous health? -Diagnosed in 2013; walk with a cane, sometimes I use the walker.
Ok two final comments on the wonderful The MSING LINK book and then i'll stop: 1) Yesterday a community physio visited me at home and I showed her the book! "Oh wow that title is a good play on words!" she said. Then going through the chapters of the book she saw the images of the exercises and she said "wow this is amazing! But have you seen Chapter 10? THAT IS SO RELEVANT TO YOU! 2) Pages 129-130 move me from a standard reader to an emotional wreck as if you're having that conversation with me! I won't reveal what I'm talking about, that would be a tremendous disrespect to Dr Hawley, but Dr. Hawley YOU WELL KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT AND OI! NO SMILING! All the love in the world to you and your family for this book Dr. Gretchen Hawley! x x x PS this was written after I completed my exercises: Brownie point for me! As you can see I am your cheerleader!
In numerology, the number 333 is considered an angel number, which is a repeating number sequence that is believed to be a message from the universe. The number 333 is said to represent: Divine presence: A powerful symbol of love, protection, and divine presence Expansion: A time to expand in your personal, spiritual, and financial life Support: You are supported and don't need to go it alone Healing: You have an opportunity for deep healing Creativity: You should infuse creativity and emotional healing into your life Positive changes: You are believed to experience positive changes in your love life and relationships Balance: A message to find balance in life, make necessary changes to grow spiritually, and practice manifestation Celebration: A message to celebrate your efforts and acknowledge the strides you have made The number 3 is typically thought to represent creativity, charm, communication, and optimism. The triple repetition of the number 3 amplifies its energies. It's all good ;-)
I usually work out in the evening using up all remaining energy and movement I have left before sleep. I follow the workout pattern in your book for about an hour which is all I can take. This year I also started going to our local Therapool 3x per week and also just started doing yoga one night a week. I am now much "stronger" but still feel I am losing ground on my battle with MS. Likely less ground than if I was sitting on the couch ;-0 But- how much is too much? always the battle- should I push through and try to do more? or do I need a break? I'm looking better but can't walk further and am not better balanced. Other stats- I'm 59, Dx with RRMS at 40 and transitioned to SPMS at 52 I had to have a hip replacement at 52 as well and now question if I was experiencing avascular necrosis. I have brain lesions as well as a spinal lesion in the C4/C5 region
It's definitely all about finding what works best for you and your body! I do have a video on how many reps & sets that might be helpful though if you're interested. You can check it out here: ruclips.net/video/yGe3_SbaLBE/видео.htmlsi=hocH5opuJIRSNCoa
@@DoctorGretchenHawley I've read that- and also the recommendation of 150 minutes a week...do you mean at least 150 minutes? at most 150 minutes? as most of my time is sitting or reclining I'd say at least 150 minutes but I have had a PT get after me saying that "more is not better" and I need time to recover but I don't feel my workouts are so strenuous as to need that- like when I used to do weight lifting as a teenager - I get motor fatigue so I am trying to push that limit so I can do more
You speak a lot about your brain and MS I have MS and I suffer from lesions on my spinal cord. I never really hear you speak about how to repair spinal cord damage so what do we do for those people and how do we give them? Hope it just seems😢 like a, losing battle to me at this point now, hearing about all the good results and repairing your brain
I've got spinal cord lesions as well, and they stop me from walking properly. There are treatments on the horizon for demyelination [Nervgen] however, as of now there isn't a magic wand to repair these lesions - only treatments to slow the progression of them. Just try your best with exercise, aerobic and strength training to stop further deterioration.
I have a full chapter in my book on neuroplasticity and what that means for brain lesions vs. spinal lesions. The very short summary is this: there’s less research on neuroplasticity for spinal lesions but researchers and neurologists feel people with spinal lesions will have a similar effect to those with brain lesions.

There are additional ways to get neuroplasticity working, which is mentioned in the book/audiobook, too! Pick what feels right for you.
Thanks for a great video!!
